Indiana’s Senate Enrolled Act 1 will provide $1.3 billion in property tax relief over the next three years, including a new 10% homestead credit (capped at $300) and increased deductions for seniors.
The law phases in a two-third property tax deduction on the assessed value of all homes by 2031 while transitioning senior and veteran benefits from deductions into direct tax credits.
To protect taxpayers, the reform requires all tax referenda to appear on general election ballots and launches a new online transparency portal to help Hoosiers track and compare their tax bills.
