The City of Vincennes is sifting through the after-effects of the boil order issued over the weekend. The order was issued Friday, and stay in effect until clear samples were found Saturday afternoon.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum highlights to important issues from the weekend’s boil order. One of those was the use of Code Red to get the order out to those affected. The other involves the restaurants and other areas who use a lot of City water. Mayor Yochum says some establishments were affected, but others worked their way around it.
The issue concerned water samples containing alleged E-coli levels over the legal limit. However, City officials state all along the water was safe, and the problem was probably a lab error at their testing facility in Farmersburg. They feel the next-day samples on Saturday confirm their findings.
