He approached his work with dedication and a willingness to do what needed to be done. His hands-on nature and commitment to doing things well earned him the respect of many who knew him.
On August 3, 1985, Rick married the love of his life, Jacki VanMeter. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Rick cherished being outdoors, spending time, and creating treasured memories with family and friends through several pursuits. Fishing, camping, and mushroom hunting were among the activities that brought him the most happiness. He also loved riding dirt bikes and was a founding member of the Hoosier Trail Riders. He dedicated 15 years to coaching youth baseball, encouraging young players in their development as athletes and young men.
Music occupied a special place in Rick’s life, and he loved to play guitar. Whether he was spending time outside, working with his hands, coaching, or simply being with his family, he found fulfillment in the moments that mattered most. He especially cherished time with his little buddy, Jackson, and those closest to him, and valued the bonds that family created throughout his life.
