Illinois lawmakers are sending a ban on new immigration detention centers in the state to Governor Pritzker’s desk. The legislature passed a bill that would ban detention centers from being placed near homes, schools, churches and other facilities in Illinois. Existing facilities like the ICE processing center in Broadview wouldn’t be affected by the legislation.
