Carolyn S. Armes, 87, of Washington, Indiana, passed away on June 9, 2026. She was born on October 11, 1938, in Epsom, Indiana, and lived a life marked by devotion to her family, kindness to others, and a quiet strength that touched all who knew her.
Born to the late Daniel McCullough and Eulah Smith McCullough, Carolyn grew up with the values of hard work, love, and loyalty that would guide her throughout her life. She carried those values into every role she held, but none more important than the role of mother, grandmother, and family matriarch. Carolyn was an exceptional mother and cherished her family above all else. Her greatest achievement was not found in her work or accomplishments, but in the loving home and lasting legacy she created for those she held dear.
She is survived by her devoted children, Tim Ramsey and his wife Susan, Teresa Braun (Tommy), and Charles “Chuck” Ramsey and his wife Stephanie. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Dan McCullough and his wife Kay, Donnie McCullough (Brenda), and Kay Keith and her husband Gary. Carolyn was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored deeply. She is also survived by her companion, Mike McLaughlin, who shared in her later years and brought her comfort and companionship.
In addition to the family who survives her, Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Armes, in 2000, an infant son, Richard Lee, her son, Daniel A. Ramsey grandson, Travis Morris, and her sisters, Shirley Cornelius and Phyllis Overton. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life, and she carried their love with her always.
Carolyn enjoyed working at J.C. Penny and Walmart in the men’s wear department for more than 34 years. She was known for her dependable nature, her warm presence, and the steady work ethic she brought to every job. Though she took pride in her work, she never lost sight of what mattered most to her, and that was her family.
In her free time, Carolyn enjoyed going out for a good meal. Simple pleasures brought her happiness, especially when shared with those she loved. Her life was one of devotion, resilience, and affection, and she will be remembered for the love she gave so freely and the many lives she touched along the way.
Carolyn’s family and friends will remember her as a woman of grace, strength, and deep devotion. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and her legacy will continue through the generations she helped shape with her love and care.
There will be a private graveside service held at Sugarland Memory Gardens on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 1:00 P.M.for immediate family with Pastor Brad Rainey officiating. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
