The Knox County Council is entering Day 3 of their four-day budget session at the Stout Building at Seventh and Main in Vincennes. Today starts the actual deliberation to place funding in the various line items for the 2027 budget.
The final estimated budget should be somewhere around 21 million dollars. Knox County Council president Mike Morris says that amount does not contain a lot of grant funding. Council’s plan is to give a three percent pay increase to all County workers. However, Morris’ focus is more on getting the County’s insurance plan more reasonable.
Following Council’s final budget setting session on Thursday, the approved proposal will go to the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance. The state’s D-L-G-F will adjust the numbers if needed, and also set the final 2027 County property ax levy.
