The Knox County Commissioners approved an economic development agreement with Lucky Point Solar for a 140 megawatt solar facility in southern Knox County.
The plant will be put in place starting on December first, 2028, with completion in around a year. The E-D-A will give the plant a 75 percent tax abatement over ten years.
In return, Lucky Point Solar will make a four million dollar payment to the County in year one, and 5.8 million dollars in the years following. Also, one side of the facility will have a 300 foot setback, but the other three sides will have a 500 foot setback. Further agreement details include returning soil to identical condition as it is now upon de-commission, and various efforts for soil health and erosion control. Finally, Lucky Point officials committed to a six am to eight p-m construction schedule from Monday to Saturday, except for emergency cases.
The Commissioners approved the E-D-A agreement unanimously.
