In Tennis:
It will be Vincennes Rivet vs. South Knox for a tennis sectional title at the LHS courts this evening.
Rivet defeated Vincennes Lincoln 3-2 in their sectional semifinal matchup. Lincoln’s Carter Johnson defeated the Patriots’ Henry Holka at number 1 singles, with LHS’ Conner Hahn defeating Max Weiss at Number 2 singles. Both those matches went the full three sets. At Number 3 singles, Carter Stevenson of Rivet defeated the Alices’ Bronx Carter.
In doubles, Rivet’s Miles Holka and Bracey Morron defeated Lincoln’s Brady Allen and Jaxson Newton, while the Patriots’ Will Hermon and Cody Ladson won the match by defeating the Alices’ Luke Clark and Gabe Vasquez. That Number 2 doubles match also went the maximum three sets.
South Knox defeated Washington 4-1 to advance to play Rivet. Layne Hays and Warren Shepard were both singles winners, with the doubles teams of Cooper Neal and Ethan Cork, and Caleb True and Owen Robinson all winning. Washington’s lone winner was Josh Meredith in singles.
In Volleyball:
The North Knox Warriors fall in three sets to Bloomfield last night. The Lady Cardinals won the match 25-23, 25-19, and 25-11. Kendal McGuire had six kills for the Lady Warriors, with Jersey Sturgeon adding 14 digs.
The Rivet Lady Patriots defeated Dugger Union in three sets. Rivet won the match 25-22, 25-19, and 25-18. Six kills led the way for both Danica Hooper and Jocelyn Thascker. Rachel Jacqumain had 12 service points, with Kaylee Hawkins scoring 29 assists.
In soccer:
South Knox’s boys defeated North Knox 6-0 Levi Loudermilk scored his fifth hat trick of the season, with three goals in the game. Other scoreres included Jakob Grannan, Kain Ellerman, and Kane Simmons.
In the girls’ matchup, South Knox defeated North Knox 6-1. The Lady Spartans were led by three goals from Kalissa Lavely. Both sets of teams will rematch each other, as they were drawn to play each other in next week’s soccer sectionals.
In middle school sports:
The Clark Middle School sixth grade team lost in two sets to Washington, 25-20 and 25-22. Hadley Newton had seven points for Clark, with Brooklyn Abel adding six.
