An author who recently wrote a book on giving has some tips for parents and others who are still trying to figure out what holiday gifts their kids want.
Aileen Avery, the author of “Gift Rap: The History and Art of Gift-Giving,” says the most important thing is to always be listening.

Avery has suggestions for kids’ gifts this year.
She likes kids’ fitness trackers that connect to parents’ phones and Nickelodeon’s Top Wing for preschoolers and the Hasbro vehicle set that goes with it.
She also recommends the crowdfunded family holiday movie called “I’ll be Next Door for Christmas.”
It’s downloadable at iTunes, Amazon and GooglePlay.
