This week’s heavy rain will take its toll on area rivers from now through the coming week.
The White River at Edwardsport will peak almost 8 feet above flood stage from tomorrow through Wednesday before dropping. At Petersburg, the White will rise to nine feet above flood stage, and stay there all next week, starting tomorrow.
The Wabash River at Vincennes will climb to four feet above flood stage late next week. Downriver at Mount Carmel, the river will reach seven feet above flood stage from Wednesday of next week to Sunday, February 17th.
Finally, the Embarras River at Lawrenceville will rise to over five feet above flood stage, and then drop rapidly below flood stage.
Those in low-lying areas are reminded to take proper precautions now. Drivers are also reminded not to drive over flooded roadways in case of high water.
