Illinois House Committee Approves Reproductive Health Act; Rewriting State’s Abortion Laws

illinois

The Reproductive Health Act, a rewriting of Illinois’ abortion laws, has cleared its first hurdle in the Illinois House. The bill passed a house committee on a 12 to seven vote. Supporters, like Robyn Gabel of Evanston, say it’s needed to ensure women have a right to choose.

Opponents say the measure goes too far…and complain about the last-minute hearing on the issue. It now faces a vote before the full house.
