An annual Memorial Day service will take on extra meaning today, with a remembrance of the late Lieutenant Clay Cullen. Cullen died in the line of duty in the winter of 2018 in a helicopter training accident in California.
The remembrance will happen at eight-30 this morning. It will be held as part of the ceremony at the Civil War monument at the Knox County Courthouse. The service is the first of a yearly remembrance of veterans at various cemeteries and monuments in and around Vincennes.
The last ceremony will be a wreath-laying service at ten a-m at memorial Park Cemetery. Harold Hensley will head up the Memorial Park gathering; it will also feature a proclamation from Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum.
All the ceremonies are open to the public.
