Vincennes University’s Board of Trustees cleared the way for work on the University’s French Quarter project.  The action came late this morning in their session at the Green Activities Center.

The Board approved four buildings for the block along Hart Street between First and Second Streets.  Wolfe Construction won the bids for all four buildings, while Kerns Excavating won the sitework contract.  The work is Phase One of the project; it will cost just over eight million dollars to complete.

The contract was re-bid, after the original bids came in high.  Andrew Young represented the University in the bidding process; he details how they lowered the bids to an acceptable level…

Young says work on the French Quarter apartments will start right away…

The contractor meeting is set for tomorrow.  Bids for Phase Two of the French Quarter work will happen at an un-specified future date.
